After the framework for the walls had been placed and the ship had been insulated in May 2024, carpenter Douwe started on the interior of the ship in June 2024. First, all the walls were placed, so that the layout was already clearly visible. Then the door frames and doors were made. After that, the last trusses and coves were covered in wood.
With the making of the benches, beds and galley, the interior more and more took shape. And when that was done, the most fun phase began: the finishing! With a wainscoting and many details of oak, which had already been given a few layers of varnish by Evelien in advance, the interior became more and more beautiful. The selection of photos below shows the transformation per room.
Walls and Salon:
Keel
In the meantime, the construction kit for the keel extension was also assembled and welded. Because the workshop is not large enough, the keel was made in two parts and then transported to another location. Here, in the spring of 2025, the two keel parts will be welded together and attached under the ship.
More steelwork
After being blasted, the pre-loved bowsprit and dorade cowls were painted. Friend and welder Arnie had welded the fittings on the bowsprit and then welded the bowsprit to the ship with the help of the carpenter’s eye of carpenter Douwe. Just like the decoration on both sides of the stern.
Woodwork
In the carpentry workshop, not only the doors, frames, tables, cupboard doors and finishing trim and mouldings were made. Lodewijk, Raymond and Aaron also made the wooden gunwale, top capping, skylight, sliding hatch and exterior doors here. These first have to be varnished and will then be mounted on deck in the spring/summer.
